Teatro1, new residential building in Udine, has been published on the on-line version of ThePlan, magazine of architecture, in the sector Italian Architecture, with an article by Francesco Pagliari:
Teatro 1 sets out to achieve three convergent objectives. First, using façades at an angle, it aims to create a section of the cityscape using architecture that is both distinctive and that defines the surrounding area as well as interacting with the volumes that comprise the theatre. Second, it tries to produce an environmentally friendly building that delivers top performance (organic building materials, energy saving, home automation, A+ energy class, and real visual, thermal and acoustic comfort). Third, for most of the living units, the design creates close relationships between indoor and outdoor space, using large windows, long sheltered balconies, big terraces and bioclimatic greenhouses. For this third objective, it was also essential to ensure the architecture continually explores environmental concerns, at times even just for an individual living unit.
